I tried to have bees in my home in Brazil – the native type. But the neighbourg started some renovations and they died... Did you know that our native bees don't have stingers? And they make hives with the most unusual and beautiful shapes. I recommend you google them ;)
And thanks for the ice cream recipe. I just got my ice cream maker and I'm very excited. Any recipe book tips (apatr from the Perfect scoop)?
I’m going to google them. So many varieties of bees… as far as tips go, I use the recipes I’ve collected over the years. Using ripe fruit is key, though any mistakes are always usually edible.
I love your dedication to your bees and the understanding you have of their behaviour and intentions. You treat them so well and so respectfully that I am a little annoyed at the bees for not being nicer to you 😂.
I hope the new queen works out well - that she is a Queen of Hearts ♥️.
"An odd relationship of attempting to coerce wild creatures to go your way."
Best definition of 'leadership' I've ever seen!
I should write a book… lol
Bee Wrangler. Might sell!
I mean, of course, beekeeping takes knowledge and work… but incredible how much knowledge and work!
With heat warnings for nearly 40C with the humidity here, I was sweating just reading about all the layers. Glad to read you managed despite it all.
And on my last visit at 35°C I had to walk back fully zipped up with two bees persistently attached to veil by my ear as they were so miffed.
Divas!
This was incredibly moving to read. I had no idea beekeeping was so very dicey.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ve certainly had some difficulties with these colonies over the years, but each year brings something new to learn.
Ah Vienetta. The memories!
It’s sitting in the freezer. I don’t want to slice it .. cheap and cheerful but fabulous.

Thank you. It’s certainly a steep learning curve though wild creatures are very much that.
